Learner drivers from L to Plate Vort System
(Vehicle On Road Test) After one year of holding your learners permit, passing your VORT test and logging 75hrs of driving 15 of them at night you can apply for your P’s. During that year you have to drive with a supervised driver or instructor in order to gain your 75 hrs. Although a supervised driver may be extremely good on the road, changes to the Australian road rules and sometimes bad habits can cause issues when it comes to the Vort Test. In this case it is recommended you as a learner driver undertake some lessons with a qualified instructor this amount can vary on your situation. So now the next question is, how many lessons? This varies on everyone's situation, there really is no formula. What Lock P driving school recommends is at least one lesson in the beginning before you undertake too many hours with a supervised driver, also a quick refresher at least a chat with the supervised driver to make sure the little things that could fail you in a test are not overlooked. A few lessons in between to get your manoeuvres right and check on progress. Then another drive or two with Lock P Driving School before your Vort Test. We have good experienced examiners to hand and can take care of all the test booking when you are ready for the test. We can take care of a lot more lessons with our package deals and discounts. CBT System Unfortunately Lock P Driving School Is not currently running CBT system we can recommend Local Instructors that do But assure you there is no differentce to the training itself. Exactly the same criteria will met during the VORT It is just a different way of getting signed off. Do you need to convert your overseas license to South Australian? Firstly you need to apply for a license within the first 3 months of getting to South Australia. Depending on where you obtained your license you may have to complete some extra tests. If you are from any of the countries listed, you may obtain an South Australian licence without having to complete any tests. These include; Austria, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guernsey (UK), Ireland, Isle of Man (UK), Italy, Japan, Jersey (UK), Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands,
New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States. If you are not from any of the above countries and you have a full (unrestricted) foreign licence, you must first pass a theory test on Australian road rules. If you pass this test, you will be issued with a temporary driving permit, which is valid for one month. Within this month, you must also complete a practical driving test. You may also be asked to take another practical test, known as a validation assessment. If you pass all of these, you can then obtain your South Australian License. Oh and welcome to South Australia we think you might enjoy it here. Refresher Lessons As a learner you may only drive with a supervised driver Lock P Driving School offers refresher
lessons for supervisory drivers. Changes to Australian road rules and bad habits that can creep into someone's driving can cause
a fail during the final test. A short conversation over a coffee or a brief drive can be arranged just to iron out any slight breaches
that may cause issues during the test. For example: South Australia
Australian Road Rules 118—Giving a left change of direction signal when leaving a roundabout (1) If practicable, a driver driving in a roundabout must give a left change of direction signal when leaving the roundabout.
